Super Chennai
"Super Chennai. It's Hot. It's Happening”
How Cloutgency Built Chennai's Loudest Digital Voice From Zero to 1.6 Million
Chennai has always had a lot going for it. The food, the culture, the history, the people. But for years, it lost the conversation to Bangalore and Mumbai cities that had somehow claimed the narrative of being young, exciting, and worth visiting. Nobody said "let's go to Chennai".
Super Chennai was built to change that.
Backed by Ranjit Ratud (MD of DRA Homes) and CEO Karthik, and developed in collaboration with Blue Noodles and Ananthora, Super Chennai launched in 2023 as a public social initiative not a brand, not a media company, but a movement. Its mission is to showcase Chennai in a different, better light. To give Gen Z and young Indians a reason to feel proud of the city they live in, and to make those outside it genuinely curious.
The tagline said it all: “Super Chennai. It's Hot. It's Happening”
The platform operates across entertainment, F&B, events, and culture creating content that travels across Instagram, YouTube, and Facebook. Vox pops on city streets, Restaurant and eatery features, Event coverages, Cultural spotlights. Conversations with Chennai's most prominent names. And a structured sponsorship model where brands, retailers, and businesses can reach Chennai's audience through Super Chennai's growing community.
Beyond content, Super Chennai carries a larger purpose driving employment, boosting the city's economy, and increasing interest in Chennai as a place to live, invest, and build in.

Brand's Requirements

When Super Chennai came to Cloutgency, the idea existed but the platform didn't. There was no community, no content engine, no social presence, and no proof that Chennai had an audience hungry for this kind of storytelling.
The core requirements were:
- Build a social media presence from absolute zero
- Create a consistent content identity that felt native to Gen Z without alienating older audiences
- Develop content formats that could showcase Chennai across food, events, culture, and people
- Build a community not just a following
- Execute campaigns and activations that would put Super Chennai on the map as Chennai's defining digital voice
Nobody had done this for Chennai before. There was no blueprint to follow.
Competitor ANalysis

Super Chennai's closest competitors in the space were pages like New to Chennai and other city-based community pages operating in the Chennai digital space.
But the gap was clear: most Chennai focused pages were functional and informational, they told you what was happening, not why Chennai mattered. They lacked identity, energy, and the kind of storytelling that makes a city feel alive.
Super Chennai wasn't built to list events. It was built to make Chennai feel like a personality one that Gen Z could relate to, share, and be proud of. That emotional positioning was the whitespace no competitor had claimed, and that became the creative foundation for everything Cloutgency built.
What Clout did

Community Building From Zero
We built Super Chennai's entire social media community from scratch across Instagram, YouTube, and Facebook. No inherited audience, no paid shortcuts. Pure content strategy, creative execution, and community momentum. The result was 1.6 million followers and counting.

Arattai Sessions

A recurring intimate format, small gatherings of 50 to 60 people brought together to hear prominent Chennai personalities speak about how the city shaped them, launched their careers, or built their identity. Part conversation, part community event, part content these sessions reinforced Super Chennai's positioning as a platform that celebrated people who chose Chennai.

Challenge
Chennai has always had a personality. What it didn't have was a digital voice loud enough to match it. When SuperChennai came to Cloutgency, the idea existed but the platform didn't - no community, no content engine, no social presence, and no proof that Chennai had an audience hungry for this kind of storytelling. There was no blueprint to follow because nobody had done this for Chennai before. The brief wasn't to outperform a competitor. It was to build something that had never existed - a digital movement that made Gen Z feel proud of the city they lived in, and curious if they didn't.
How we made it happen
We built everything from scratch - identity first, content second. SuperChennai needed a personality before it needed a feed. We developed a multi-format content engine rooted in the city itself: vox pops, restaurant features, event coverages, the Arattai Sessions, the Made in Chennai podcast, Icon of the Month everything unique to Super Chennai pionering the concept itself in the region. Every format was built to feel native, not produced. As the community grew, we scaled - the city-wide Car Rally put SuperChennai on the ground across Chennai. Then we structured the sponsorship model on top, turning organic momentum into a self-sustaining commercial platform. 1.6 million followed.
